TodayPosted from the Akron Beacon Journal Obituaries Stanley R. WolfordStanley R. Wolford, 65, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Akron City Hospital. He was born in Bowden, W. Va. to the late Thomas W. Wolford and Ina (Wyatt) Wolford and was raised in Tallmadge, Ohio. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, Stan served our country in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army and enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow servicemen in his church. He was a gifted mechanic who worked at Aamco Transmissions for over 20 years. He loved his dogs, nature, photography, fishing and hunting. He was a faithful member of Suffield Fellowship Church and was an avid student of military history, especially the Civil War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ileta "Deeder" (Wolford) Winchester and Delores Wolford. Stan is survived by his two children and their spouses: Stanley Wolford II and Silvia and Stacey (Wolford) Bailey and Matthew; granddaughters, Caitlin, Madeline, Miranda and Callie Bailey; three siblings and their spouses: Thomas "Gene" Wolford and Martha, Mary (Wolford) Adams and Joan "Hope" Clark and Herb. He also leaves several nieces and nephews with special mention of Hope "Helen" (Clark) Matthews, who was like a second daughter to him and Victor Adams, who was like a second son. Military honors were conducted by Kent American Legion #496 at the conclusion of the service.
