TIMOTHY MICHAEL KRANSHANTim is no longer with us. He can't update his own page so if you have memories or recollections about him that you wish to share, Click Here to help keep his memory alive. 2/27/08 22 Jan 67 we made contact with the enemy and lost one and had two wounded. On 5 Feb 67 our platoon engaged a company of VC resulting in a firefight which lasted several hours. We had five wounded and killed seven VC by body count. It was estimated several more VC were killed but their comrades had dragged their bodies off. The attached picture was taken the following day as we inventoried the captured weapons.
On 10 Feb 67, Recon had stopped for a break and Tim's squad was on an outside perimeter. VC tripped some trip flares set out and a brief firefight ensued, wounding two of our guys. Tim was hit by one round in the left temple and later, when the area was secured and a medevac chopper landed, I walked him to the chopper. He did manage to walk on his own, although he appeared dazed and didn't talk. Only a small trickle of blood was noticeable. Later, we learned he had died 22 Feb 67 at Walter Reed back in the world.

Tim and I did pal around during our high school years. In fact during our Jr. Year we decided to skip 8th period. We jumped in my 1960 Studebaker Lark and got as far as the light at East Ave. While we had a red light, an older gentleman on his way to play golf ran off the highway and T boned the Studebaker on the left side. No one was hurt bad, but Tim and I were busted. We were given two weeks after school detention. Rodney E. Leasure
