Rick and Monique

After graduating high school, to my parents delight, I started working at a couple of different machine shops before getting into a Tool and Diemaker Apprenticeship.

In 1977, I heard that there was some job openings at GM Lordstown, so I applied for a job as a Toolmaker and I've been there ever since.

In 2003 I was Appointed, by our Local President to a Union Position and now I teach a Pre-Retirement Program, am Co-editor of the weekly plant newspaper, do Communications duties for UAW Local 1714 and I am involved with Joint Activities with the Assembly Plant next door. Not bad for someone who hated English, Literature and Grammer... I am a Substitute Teacher for the Percision Machining Class at Maplewood Vocational School in Ravenna and most recently, I am the contact person between our UAW Local and GM Performance Division and all of the Chevrolet Cobalt SS Grand American Cup Race Teams. This job has been like being in heaven.... I could have never asked for this great of an opportunity any where else.

I still keep my hands in Kart racing. My 2nd son still races and was a National Champion in 2 classes in 2005. We will be looking to go into some sort of car racing in 2007.

Unfortunately, I had 2 marriages that didn't last but from them came 4 great kids. And now I have 3 super daughter-in-laws and no Grand kids... Waaaaahoo...

I am marrying the girl from the office next to mine, November 10th of this year. Monique is a Child Care Facility Specialist and lives in Wadsworth. What do they say, 3rd time's a charm.. So I will be leaving Brimfield for beautiful Wadsworth this summer...

Retirement is 4 years down the road and I will address that when I get there.

I'd love to hear from you guys. Drop me an e-mail any time...
