Marion B. Chappelear, 75, passed away quietly at her residence Aug. 12, 1988 after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Chappelear was born in Ravenna, and had lived in Conneaut before moving to Tallmadge in 1954. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Tallmadge, where she had served on the music committee. She was a graduate of Ravenna High School and Kent State University.
She had taught school in Palmyra, Aurora, Conneaut and Tallmadge. She was a counselor at Tallmadge High School for 17 years, and a life member of the American and Ohio Vocational Associations and the Ohio School Counselors Association. She belonged to the Ohio Education Association, the Ohio Personnel and Guidance Association, Northeastern Ohio Education Association, Tallmadge Teachers Association, and the American Personnel and Guidance Association.
Mrs. Chappelear was selected as 'Woman of the Year in Education' by the Tallmadge B.P.W. Club in 1974. She was listed in 'Who's Who of American Women' from 1972 to 1975. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teachers' sorority, and had served as secretary. She was a member of the Akron Womans City Club, Board of Trustees of the Tallmadge Library Association and Tallmadge Historical Society, served as program chairman for the Tallmadge Country Study Club, served on the Teen Board of the Y.W.C.A., and was on the volunteer service committee of Summit County United Community Council.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Judy Chappelear of Chicago, Ill.; and daughter, Cynthia K. Chappelear of Tallmadge.
